The Three Fundamental Rules
1
Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
2
Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
3
Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
Gun Handling Rules
Know how to operate your gun, and follow these handling rules at all times on EEGC ranges.
- Handling of guns is permitted only when the range is open for firing.
- At the firing point, guns will always be pointed downrange, including when benched.
- Position gun cases on the bench with the gun inside pointed downrange before removing it; orient the case downrange again when replacing the unloaded gun.
- All uncased guns not being fired will be unloaded, action open, magazine removed, with a Safety Flag (ECI) inserted into the chamber.
- Load the gun only during an open range period and only as you are about to fire.
- When carrying or moving a gun to and from firing points, keep the muzzle pointed straight up.
- Holstered guns (strong side only) are unholstered only at the firing point while facing downrange.
- Constant muzzle discipline is required — be aware of persons close by and farther away.
- Shotgun shooters on the Public Range: ask a Range Master for instructions.
- Hearing and eye protection is required for all persons.
All range users are reminded that you are personally responsible for knowing and complying with all applicable firearm laws at all times.
